The only way to delete a contact from WhatsApp is to: Open WhatsApp, Tap: Chats, Find contact, swipe contact left, Tap: Archive chat, Tap: Archived, (which appears under the search bar) Tap: Edit, Tap: Select chats, Tap the contact you want to delete, Tap: Delete, Tap: Delete chat, Done.
